Built in 1959, New Westminster's downtown parkade represents an idea of city life as imagined from a particular point in time. These days it is used as a set for film and tv - cop shows, horror and science-fiction. A recent report in the New Westminster Record suggests that the structure's days are numbered. Various groups are currently lobbying to remove the parkade to allow the further development of the area.

As part of the exhibition The sound I'm looking for at the Charles H. Scott Gallery, Irish artist Dennis McNulty will create a soundtrack for the downtown parkade.
